The practice nurses work closely with all members of the practice team and provide a wide range of procedures including asthma care, cervical smears, family planning and new patient checks. The nurses are also able to give travel advice and injections as well as general nursing work such as dressings, ear syringing, blood pressure checks, removal of stitches and any other referrals which your doctor may arrange. Appointments for the practice nurses are made through reception.

The doctor will arrange for a district nurse to visit when appropriate.
COMMUNITY MIDWIFE
The midwife’s role at this surgery is to monitor the wellbeing of mothers and babies during the antenatal period, following the NICE guidelines antenatal patterns of care.
The midwife holds an antenatal clinic, by appointment, every week, please enquire at reception for details.
Further antenatal clinics are held at the Drop-in Clinic at Waltham Cross Health Clinic on Monday and Friday from 9.30 – 11.00am. There are also sessions held at Hoddesdon Health Centre on Tuesday and Thursday 9.30 – 11.00am. Evening clinics are also available at Hoddeson and Waltham Cross Health Centres by appointment.
The midwife aims to maintain continuity of care postnatally, when home visits will be undertaken to advise, supervise and support new mothers.

Sarah Richards RGN Helen and Vida are both highly qualified and experienced health visitors.
The major part of their work is with the 0-5 year olds and their families, assessing, supporting and identifying health needs.
Sarah is a registered nurse who works alongside the health visiting team. Sarah Coombes is a qualified and experienced nursery nurse with specialist training in child development and childcare who can provide information, advice and support on child development and parenting.
